I don't know about you guys, but i am so tired of seeing my name on stuff!! Dang, this topic seem so critical a few minutes ago lol!
But seriously though, I am constantly shredding things, mail, magazines, old college stuff, bank stuff etc, etc, and I am still overwhelmed! I cannot get to the place where I can go, ahhh finally...plus, I give stuff to Amvets and Salvation Army every month, somtimes several times a month, and yet, I cannot get to that place I want to be, which is to have less stuff!!! Drive me bananas, as my 'pal' Eddie Izzard puts it!
Has anyone seen the show (forgot which channel) "HOARDERS-BURIED ALIVE"? It give me nightmares! I am particularly annoyed (my house), about electronic gadgets and ALL the freaking attachments and wires/cords!!! The more I throw out, the more they SEEM to multiply! To make things worse, my hubby has become an electronic afficinado since the kids have gone, and somehow, he also thinks, that I, need stuff too...
I go with my friend to Estate sales, I myself rarely buy anything, I go to keep her company, but I am always stunned by ALL the junk people collect!  What is really sad, is that these people have lovingly/obsessively collected these things, and when they die, their children have sales, and give them away for pennies to the dollar...more reason to rid one's life of junk! To me, if I have'nt used it for a year or more, its give away or junk, even if never used!

you know what they say one man's junk is another's garbage.  Did you see the teenager who bartered a fone for a porsche - it took two years to get to the porsche though. I understand that Craiglist has now become a barter shop for some people (even homes are being swapped).

Shoot, I would have people come and cart stuff away, but I am scared of Craigslist Laughing
BK, when we finished building this house, I had a minimalist thing going, and somehow I ended up with too much stuff! I am not even an obsessive collector of anything, well except my books-which I am always 'weeding' out anyway. My husband is always afraid of what I will give away, when he is on travel overseas lol!

I am also scared of craigslist, but I am sure that if you follow the tips that others gave when they use it there shouldn't be too much of a problem. I haven't done any 'spring cleaning' in years and I also an not a hoarder (like those people who are literally buried under their 'collection'). but sometimes I can't seem to get myself to throw out certain stuff they sort of like grow on your Laughing

Some folks are just pack rats. On my boat things accumulate very quickly, I don'yt have much room for excess stuff so 60% of the items which I once brought on board thinking they would be neat to have and may come in handy wind up getting tossed.

yeah, on your boat, you have limited space, so you HAVE to choose what is really necessary. it's the same on our RV. now that the kids are grown, i don't have to carry half of the stuff i used to... i can manage that space and keep it minimal, better than the house, plus, less weight = better mileage.
