Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston Split Up: Tabloid

Gov. Sarah Palin's office on Wednesday refused to comment on a report that the Palin's daughter Bristol Palin had broken off her engagement with fiancé Levi Johnston.

According to Star magazine, 18-year-old Bristol Palin and Johnston are no longer together:

Now's Levi's sister, Mercede is telling all exclusively to Star and the picture she paints of life in Wasilla, Alaska is not a pretty one. Bristol, 18, has virtually cut Levi out of the life of their two-month-old son Tripp.

"Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible. She tells him he can't take the baby to our house because she doesn't want him around 'white trash'!" Bristol won't even allow him to watch the baby for a few hours -- unless he's babysitting!

Mercede also told Star: "Bristol's just crazy. That's the nicest way I can put it. She and Levi actually broke up a while ago!"

"That's not state business," Abbey Bulawa, an aide to Gov. Palin, told the Huffington Post. "We don't comment on the governor's children."

In an interview last month with FOX's Greta Van Susteren, Bristol said Levi is "a hands-on dad" who sees his son every day. She also said they planned to get married once they were done with school.

Palin's son Tripp was born on December 29, 2008.

A breakup would be additionally unfortunate for Levi as he has "Bristol" tattooed on his ring finger.

Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston Split Up: CONFIRMED

The AP has confirmed that Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin have broken up:

* * * * *
WASILLA, Alaska -- Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin, the teenage daughter of Gov. Sarah Palin, have broken off their engagement, he said Wednesday, about 2 1/2 months after the couple had a baby. Johnston, 19, told The Associated Press that he and 18-year-old Bristol Palin mutually decided "a while ago" to end their relationship. He declined to elaborate as he stood outside his family's home in Wasilla, about 40 miles north of Anchorage.

He also said some details of the breakup, rumors of which had been swirling on the Internet, were inaccurate.

Bristol Palin said in a statement that she was devastated about a report on Star magazine's Web site that quoted Levi's sister, Mercede, as saying Bristol "makes it nearly impossible" to visit the teenagers' infant son, Tripp. The baby was born Dec. 27.

"Unfortunately, my family has seen many people say and do many things to `cash in' on the Palin name," said the statement, which was issued through the governor's political action committee. "Sometimes that greed clouds good judgment and the truth."

SarahPAC spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton did not immediately respond to calls seeking further information. The governor's spokesman, Bill McAllister, declined comment.

Sarah Palin revealed her daughter's pregnancy just days after being named John McCain's running mate on the Republican presidential ticket. She had said in December that her daughter and Johnston "are committed to accomplish what millions of other young parents have accomplished, to provide a loving and secure environment for their child."

In an interview that aired on Fox News last month, Bristol Palin said her fiance saw the baby every day and described him as a "hands-on" dad.

Johnston and Palin had said they were considering a summer wedding.

"We both love each other," he told the AP in October. "We both want to marry each other. And that's what we are going to do."

Levi Johnston Talks Safe Sex With Tyra Banks

Levi Johnston, ex-fiancee of famous teen mom Bristol Palin, admitted to Tyra Banks in an interview set to air Monday that the couple was not always practicing safe sex and says they shared a bedroom on occasion.

Johnston talks about his relationship with Sarah Palin's daughter next Monday on "The Tyra Banks Show." In a preview, Johnston tells the host that he and Bristol were practicing safe sex, and agrees that her pregnancy must have resulted from some sort of 'wardrobe malfunction.' But when pressed by Tyra, he admits that they used protection "most of the time" -- but not all the time. According to the show's website, Johnston also dishes to Tyra about being thrust into the spotlight at the Republican National Convention, and why his engagement with Bristol ended, what he really thinks of Governor Palin and what it's like to be a teen father.

Usmagazine.com has some additional quotes, including that he believes Sarah Palin knew he abd Bristol were sexually active, as they shared a bedroom.

"I'm pretty sure she probably knew," says Johnston. "Moms are pretty smart."

He also shows off his ring-finger tattoo to Tyra.

Watch Johnston discuss safe sex here.

In a recent interview with "Good Morning America," Johnston said he and Bristol needed time to "mature" but could reunite in the future.

Levi Johnston On CBS: Palins Treated Me Like An Outcast After Election

WASHINGTON — The father of Bristol Palin's baby boy says he's been treated like an outcast since the end of Gov. Sarah Palin's run for vice president.

Appearing in an interview broadcast Wednesday on CBS's "The Early Show," Levi Johnston said he felt a need to "get my side of the story out there."

A worsening feud has developed between the 19-year-old Johnston and the governor's family in the wake of Johnston's complaints about not being able see his young son Tripp, often enough. Now there is a dispute about whether Johnston had actually lived with the Palins. Palin denies that he did; Johnston's family says the Palins are lying.

Bristol Palin is Sarah Palin's daughter, and at one point she had agree to marry Johnston, but that is now off.

Johnston said he "wouldn't call any baby a mistake. I love him more than anything. I wouldn't trade him for the world." Tripp was born Dec. 27.

Politics aside, the media should not be giving air time to the Johnston family. Tyra Banks show I understand....trash TV anyway, but CBS??

This guy is looking for another 15 mins of fame, such a moron. In his CBS interview he told the journalist that he hopes to be an electrician as everyone else in his family, or get acting jobs, or modeling gigs, from his exposure. Tell me if that is not totally cashing in on the Palin family. He should keep his mouth shut.

And mind you I am not a fan of the Palins.

Sarah Palin: Levi Would Have Lived With Bristol "Over My Dead Body"

It is clear at this point that there is absolutely no love lost between Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Levi Johnston. To recap: After he appeared on the "Tyra Banks" show to talk about his sex life with her daughter Bristol, Palin hit back hard by saying, "We're disappointed that Johnston and his family, in a quest for fame, attention, and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion of their relationship."

Then Johnston appeared on CBS, claiming that he was treated like an outcast by the Palins after the election, going so far as to call the family "snobby," which surely did not go over too well in Wasilla. And while Johnston claims that he was living with the Palins for a time, the family denies that he did. Johnston's family, for their part, have backed him up and accused the Palins of lying.

Lest one think the issue has been put to rest, Sarah Palin was asked at a press conference Friday about Johnston's claim that he resided with the family before Bristol Palin gave birth to their child. Palin's response:

I know the truth about my family. I know details about whether Levi Johnston was allowed to live with my teenage daughter or not. By the way, it would be over my dead body that a kid would live with my teenage daughter.

This is all trash.

The youngman was used to put on a show during the primary. Unfortunately, the victim of this entire sordid mess will be the innocent child. Sarah  Palin has shown herself to be an opportunist whom cares for self - why else did she parade those young people during the primary. If she really cared about this infant's well-being she would her persona; feelings about his father aside and allow the youngman to be a part of the child's life. On the other hand, he should shut up & stop trying to be an opportunist himself by washing his dirty laundry in public. Say what you will, I doubt the poorest of Black families would have handled the  situation like this.

We, including myself, should all stop spending time discussing this matter. It doesn't warrant it.

I always knew Sarah Palin was a redneck ....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Palin's AG Pick Defended KKK Statue, Mocked Offended Student
Sarah Palin's choice for attorney general once wrote a column defending a statue of a KKK figure as an expression of free speech on a college campus and mocked the psychology of a fellow student who protested the display.
Wayne Anthony Ross has come under intense scrutiny since the Alaska Governor and former vice presidential candidate announced his nomination. His resume includes derogatory remarks about homosexuals, accusations of sexism, and bizarre comments downplaying the fallout of the Exxon Valdez oil spill. But his most controversial incident may have come in December 1991, when he penned an op-ed for the Anchorage Times, obtained by the Huffington Post, entitled "KKK 'art' project gets 'A' for courage."
The crux of the piece is a defense of one particular art student's statue of a KKK figure -- created for a class assignment to "depict a monster" -- that the University of Alaska-Anchorage had put on display. In the process, Ross insisted that he was no racist. "I am a card-carrying member of the Congress of Racial Equality," he wrote. "I have never supported David Duke, and never will."
But the column was filled with racial and political insensitivities that, even in the relatively homogenous Alaska, were bound (perhaps designed) to stir the pot.
Ross repeatedly chided one particular student, Clara Bynum -- who, Ross noted, was a member of the Afro-America Student Association -- for having the gall to protest the statue.
"A 35-year-old psychology student," he writes, "Ms. Bynum was obviously letting her inner hostilities rise to the surface. Perhaps by the time she completes her psychology studies, Ms. Bynum will have the training and desire to control such emotions."
At one point, he accused her of seeking to trample on the art student's right to expression of free speech by threatening to take the statue down -- a legally provocative stance for the leading law-enforcement official of the state.
"In fairness to Ms. Bynum, her threat to tear down the KKK figure... could have been viewed as a symbolic protest against the KKK," Ross wrote. "But to achieve civil rights, we must ensure the civil rights of others. Ms. Bynum's actions would have violated the right of expression granted Mr. Hamilton under our First Amendment. Does she really believe that civil rights for one group can be achieved by trampling on the rights of others?"
Story continues below
The conclusion of the piece included one of its harshest digs, with Ross offering Bynum a failing grade on the topic of her major. "Art professor Ken Gray gave Mr. Hamilton an 'A' for his art work," he writes. "No one said what Ms. Bynum's grade was for her psychology course. But she 'flunked out' as far as I'm concerned."
That Ross would defend the right to create a KKK statue as well as the school's right to display it is a stance that, while clearly defensible under first amendment grounds, could prove tricky for the Palin administration to defend. Conservatives have railed at offensive art depictions in the past, with Rudy Giuliani famously cutting off funds for the Brooklyn Museum of Art after it displayed a painting of the Virgin Mary covered in Elephant dung. The display of confederate flags at South Carolina's Capitol, meanwhile, has long engendered fierce political and constitutional debates in federal and state elections.
But it is Ross's mockery of the offended student -- at one point urging her to take down the racially-tinged art display so she would be arrested -- that is likely to cause the most headaches for the governor's office.
"The university, quite rightly, allowed the artwork to remain, but art professor Gray capitulated and removed the figure from display," Ross wrote. "It is too bad that Mr. Gray did not display the intestinal fortitude shown by the university. It might have been more fun to see Ms. Bynum try to remove the display. Then she could have been arrested and her future as a student at the university could have been resolved through the university disciplinary proceedings."
 Sarah and Todd Palin said in a statement on NBC's "Today" show Tuesday that they want what's best for their children and that Bristol believes in "redemption and forgiveness." And it seems Bristol blames her mom for their initial breakup. In a newly released People interview, Bristol says that had her mom not been a VP candidate, she and Levi would already be married and would never have split.
PREVIOUSLY: Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston are engaged, and they've shared the news on the cover of Us Weekly, seen below. They have not shared the news with Bristol's mom Sarah Palin, who has mocked Levi as "Ricky Hollywood" and poked at his "aspiring porn" career.
Bristol tell the glossy, "It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board."
Apparently they got back together three months ago, and engaged two weeks ago. They told the magazine they are waiting for sex until the marriage, as Bristol has pledged to be abstinent. Fortunately they want a short engagement and hope to marry in the next six weeks. They reconnected when meeting to discuss custody of son Tripp, 18 months old.
"I really thought we were over," Levi tells the mag. "So when I went, I had no hope. I think we both just started talking -- and then we took Tripp for a walk."
Bristol continues, "When he left that night, we didn't hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: 'I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again' ... I was in shock."
Pick up Us for more of the interview and "exclusive pictures," for which they pair were presumably paid. Visible on the cover is Bristol's new engagement ring. Levi already has her name tattooed on his ring finger.
I wish the young lovers the best of luck. It's got to be tough having Sarah as a mom.
Sometimes (a lot of times) white kids start out blonde then their hair color changes.
With most women by age 20 what you see isn't their real hair color. It's all a farce.
Bristol Palin: Sarah Palin 'Doesn't Really Approve' Of My Engagement To Levi Johnston
Bristol Palin has told Us Weekly that her mom, Sarah, "doesn't really approve" of her and Levi Johnston's engagement. Bristol said, "My mom is not 100 percent backing us up right now," and that, "People are more worried for me than excited for me."
According to Bristol, Sarah believes actions speak louder than words. "She's going to wait to see if [Levi] changes," Bristol explained. "But she's just glad he is getting on the right path. She knows how much Tripp means to me, and she wants Tripp to have a father figure."
In a video on UsMagazine.com, Bristol said, Levi "stepping up and getting his education, GED and whatnot, him getting a job and supporting us emotionally and financially and whatnot then I think [my mom will] accept it and be happy for us."
Bristol also said, "I want to get married soon, just so we can live together and be together all of the time."
